21 Day Fix Extreme Results & Thoughts/Review

WOW!!! Just like that it's been 21 Days and I am a graduate of the 21 Day Fix Extreme (the sequel workout to the 21 Day Fix)!!! Two HUGE accomplishments that came out of this program for me were that I actually was able to stick to my meal plan (I usually stink at following meal plans!) AND I didn't have one single drop of wine in 21 Days!!!! I can say that I'm patting myself on back for that! I learned how will power really plays a role in my health & fitness journey with this program for sure! 





The Real Deal: 
I have done 2 rounds of the 21 Day Fix and let me just tell you Autumn definitely took it up a notch for the Fix Extreme!! And I LOVED every minute of it!! The workouts incorporate cardio and strength, with lots of weight and resistance band work (me and the red band eventually became friends.....see photo below), it's a great mix of the two! AND the best part about it is the workouts are only 30 mins. long!!! Who doesn't have time for a 30 min workout? 



I actually surprised myself because I really really enjoyed the Yoga portion of the Fix Extreme. By the time Sunday came around and it was Yoga day, my body was soooooo ready for it!! 



The 21 Day Fix Extreme definitely did not disappoint, and I am extremely happy I did it!! Best part about it is even though it's an extreme program, if you've completed programs like the 21 Day Fix, Insanity Max30 or T25 you will totally ROCK this program!! 


The Results Are In: 
Drum rolllll please......I have to admit I gained about 3-4 lbs after I finished Insanity Max30. I got comfortable and was indulging a little too much on the weekends and it showed!! 
I am 100000% over the moon about my results with the 21 Day Fix Extreme because I really thought I would struggle with the nutrition and no wine thing! BUT once I set my mind to something I will stick to it! Soooooo even though I don't follow the 21 Day Fix meal plan to a T, I do use the containers for measuring out my food and what I should and shouldn't have each day and I stuck to that!

I honestly couldn't be happier with the results from this program and am happy to say that I WILL be doing another round ASAP!! I have a photoshoot coming up on May 16th and I know this program will whip me into the shape I need by then!!! Sooooo I am living it up this week and back at it on May 4th! Do NOT Drink Shakeology, IF......

This blog post has been a long time coming.....I have been contemplating it since the middle of January and finally decided that it's finally time to share it! I want to share my Shakeology story/transformation with you today, along with a little warning....do NOT drink Shakeology if you wouldn't enjoy these side effects below.....

*Improved ALL around health!! 
 (a little rundown of what Shakeology is: an all natural meal replacement shake & daily dose of dense nutrition that is jammed packed full of super foods and antioxidants)


I started drinking Shakeology a little less than a year ago......but I want to rewind about 10 years ago. So, we as women go to the ob/gyn every year (well at least you should and if you are not I encourage you to do so!) for an annual check up. Up until I was about 23 years old my annual check ups were always easy and non-stressful. That ALL changed when I went for my yearly check up the year of my 23rd birthday and about 2 weeks later got the call that no woman wants to get.....'we have your results, your test came back abnormal, we will need to do further testing'! WHAT??? My heart instantly sunk and I started questioning everything, 'why me', 'how could this happen', 'what is wrong with me' and about a million other things went through my mind. So I scheduled my next appointment and test (a colposcopy) with my doctor and waited. Come appointment day I was a ball full of nerves and still so so confused, my doctor was amazing, I have been with her since I was 16 yrs old and she made sure I understood everything that was going on and reassured me that 'this happens and it'll be ok'! This test I was having is a little more invasive so afterward I was given my instructions and sent on my way, of course still a nervous mess! Fast forward 2 weeks and my phone rings and it's my doctors office and this time it wasn't a dreaded call, it was a call saying that the results from the test were 'normal'! I instantly felt like I could breathe again and that a huge weight had been lifted! BUT I did need to come back for a follow up in 6 months rather than the normal every year! I was ok with that as long as I was ok! Or so I thought......

We are going to fast forward 6 months to that next appointment.....it was a routine appointment like always and then 2 weeks later, I got that dreaded call AGAIN 'your results came back abnormal, we need to do further testing'! Again my heart sunk and I began to question everything AGAIN!!! Of course I scheduled the next appointment and test and AGAIN this test came back 'normal'! I began to wonder what the heck is going on inside of me? Well at the time I wasn't living a healthy lifestyle, I was drinking like a fish and eating out any chance I got! This process of abnormal results, then further testing went on for about 10 yrs (YES you read that correctly, 10 yrs!) until I finally decided that something needed to change with ME! 

This brings me to my Shakeology story and transformation! 
Last March (2014) my husband and I really buckled down and started living a healthy lifestyle. We were both at our heaviest weights and we were just unhappy and wanted a change! We started a Beachbody workout program together called FocusT25 and started planning/prepping our meals with the correct portions, and eating more clean! This program was 10 weeks long and we both had AAAHHHHH-Mazing results from the program and our new found clean eating lifestyle, my husband lost 20 lbs. and I lost about 5 lbs. but totally defined and toned by body BUT most importantly we FELT GREAT inside and out!! I wanted more of this feeling so I reached out to my Beachbody Coach about Shakeology and what I needed to do to become a coach. So I purchased Shakeology and signed up to become a Team Beachbody Coach,(over the last 11 months I have drank Shakeology everyday and have completed FocusT25, PiYo, the 21 Day Fix, P90, Insanity Max30 and the 21 Day Fix Extreme workout programs and have lost about 18-20lbs.), I would've never thought that day when I made that choice, that our lives would be forever changed!

Fast forward to this year, the year of my 34th birthday, I was scheduled for my yearly ob/gyn appointment in January (2015). I go to the appointment, not as on edge as I usually am, because I can feel a HUGE difference in my body and all the changes that I have made over the last several months. The appointment goes as usual, but one thing that my doctor asks is 'how did you lose 18 lbs. in the course of a year and not look sick'? I said to her 'my husband and I have been drinking Shakeology, eating healthy and doing Beachbody workout programs daily', she was very proud and said 'well good for you'! Appointment was over and I was on my way, I had a good feeling and for the 1st time in a LONG time couldn't wait to see what those results were going to be in a few weeks! 2 weeks went by and nothing, I started to get worried and told my husband I hadn't heard anything, could that be a good sign or a bad sign? Well that day, in February I received the call I've been wanting for a very long time, it was the doctors office assuring me that the results were NORMAL and that no further testing will be necessary!! To some that may not be a big deal but this was HUGE for me, for us, we have been battling this on going and stressful process for the last 10 years and it finally ended!

Next month,  May 28th to be exact, it will be one year that I have been drinking Shakeology and living a healthy lifestyle and the changes I have seen over this last year from these (simple) lifestyle changes is beyond words! Shakeology daily, eating healthy and working out daily gave me my life back!! I am not saying 100% that Shakeology was the reason for these good/normal results BUT what I am saying is that it has changed my body inside and out and I know that it was a combination of just drinking Shakeology and living a healthier life that gave me these results and for that I will forever be grateful!

The point of this blog post was to show you the absolute IMPORTANCE to living healthy and just exactly WHY I love and believe in Shakeology so so much! Sharing this very personal information isn't easy and it brings back alot of heartache and frustration within myself BUT if I can reach 1 person through sharing my struggles & my story, then it was worth it! I encourage you first and foremost to TAKE CARE OF YOU!!! God gave us 1 life and body to live in, we need to cherish it, I am so happy that I took my life back and made a change and I will never go back to where I was! 5 Tips for a Hoppin', Happy & Healthy Easter

I seriously cannot believe that we are only a few days away from Easter??? Crazy to me, where the heck did March fly away to? That month came and went so fast!!! BUT we are here, I am super excited for Easter Sunday and to get to spend time with family AND that we are getting closer to Spring & Summer!! I don't know about you but I am OVER this winter and cold weather!! 

Sooooooo with that being said, we all know that holidays are great, but with the holidays comes indulging and splurging on foods we don't always eat on a daily basis. I get that, I totally do, because I definitely live by the 80/20 rule when it comes to nutrition.....because let's be honest if you restrict yourself, you will start to dislike what you are doing and not stick to it.....moderation with everything is KEY in my opinion! 

I want to share with you my 5 Tips that keep me on track during holidays like Easter!! Even though I LOVE to have a little indulgence and treat here and there, I always feel tired and sick after overeating! To me it's just not worth it BUT I have a few tips to help you fight those indulges and not over do it this Easter holiday! 




  • Exercise!! Make sure to mark off some time on your schedule for some exercise this week/weekend before the Sunday Holiday! Even if it’s just a few short minutes, this will help you burn off excess calories!
  • Balance Your Meals Out: Don’t be tempted to fill up your plate with rich, high caloric food. Instead have a tiny bit of everything, including fruits & veggies! Doing this will still get you that little bit of indulgence in moderation! 
  • Prepare for outings: There is no reason to totally give up your healthy eating during the holidays, all we have to do is learn to manage it a bit more carefully over the holidays! 
  • Stock up on Healthy Snacks: Be sure to have some healthy snacks on hand at home, that way when you are tempted you can just grab one of those to curb your craving! Also about a 1/2 hour before you leave for your event or party, have a small snack to hold you over and keep you somewhat full until dinner so you don’t find yourself munching on chips or sweets! 
  • Don’t over eat: I know we have always been told that we should eat everything on our plates but you are an adult now, don’t feel obligated to lick your plate clean. When you feel full, stop eating, it’s that simple! 

I hope these tips will be useful and help you stay on track for this upcoming Easter Holiday and remember, everything in moderation, moderation is KEY to success in your journey!

*Skinny Brownies*

I love love love turning not so healthy recipes into healthier versions to share with my family & friends!!! Now they on the other hand....not so much hahahahaha! But they come around once they taste that the healthier version is actually not much different than what they are used to......SHOCKING huh?! 

That brings me to.....BROWNIES!!! Ohhhhh how we ALL love brownies........(I mean if you don't, I think there is something missing in your life!) I love brownies a little too much sometimes and tend to overindulge when they are around me, so I found a way to make 2 of my favorite things collide {Shakeology + Brownies = MAGIC}!! This recipe for Shakeology Brownie bites is yummy and you get the brownie taste without all the calories/added sugars!! 






 What you will need: 
-2 packets or 2 scoops of Vegan Chocolate Shakeology 
-2/3 cups of PB2 Peanut Butter Powder
-2 Tblsp of Honey
-2 Organic Eggs
-Few pinches of Cinnamon
-Baking pan or bread pan

What you'll do: 
Preaheat your oven to 350*, spray your baking pan with EVOO cooking spray, mix all the ingredients together in a bowl, pour into your pan and cook for 8-12 minutes or until cooked through (I had to add a few more minutes to mine), once they are done cut up into small bite size pieces and devour reasonably!!! 








These were a BIG hit with the hubby & our 3 yr old niece and of course ME!! Hope your family enjoys them as much as mine did!!

KID Approved Mini Pizzas

Ok so sometimes on Friday nights or on the weekends the hubby and I are craving pizza and we don't want to eat the bad stuff or just don't feel like ordering out, so I make these and it totally satisfies that pizza craving!!





These little pizzas are the BEST & easiest thing to make AND for the mommas out there,  they can be super fun for the kids to help out with, without making a HUGE mess for you to clean up!!! 


*Mini Pizzas*
What you will need:
-Sandwich Thins ( I usually make about 6-8)
-Organic Pizza Sauce (they have a good one a Giant Eagle, just can't remember the brand)
-Turkey Pepporoni
-Fat Free Kraft Shredded Mozzarella Cheese
-And whatever other healthy toppings you'd like
(We are picky so pepporoni is all we like)

What to do:
-Seperate your sandwich thins and lay them all out on a baking sheet
-Spread a Tblsp of sauce onto each sandwich thin
-Add 3 pieces of your turkey pepperoni onto each sandwich thin
-Sprinkle a little less than a handful of your cheese onto each sandwich thin
-Pop in the oven on 350° for about 8-10 minutes and you have Mini Pizzas ENJOY!!

Week 1 Insanity Max 30 Update & Thoughts

O-M-G YOU GUYS!!!! I finished my 1st week of Insanity Max 30 and I couldn't be more excited!!! Let me just tell you that this program is AHHHHH-MAZING!!! I am so happy to have ShaunT back in my life and pushing me beyond my limits!!

I am not gonna lie this program is no joke and there were definitely days in this week that I struggled BUT I was finally excited to come home and workout each day, which is exactly what I missed so much! Every single workout gets harder but working out 6-7 days a week for the last 8 months has paid off because I am actually able to keep up!!! Not saying that when the workout is over I don't *SPLAT* on the floor of exhaustion, but it's a GREAT feeling!! 





On Thursday I had to wake up at 5am to workout because I was going to the Garth Brooks concert with some friends in downtown Pittsburgh......soooooo I knew I wouldn't get my workout in that day if I didn't get up early to do it! There I was at 5am NOT wanting to workout but I did it {thankfully} and THIS happened.........





I literally was in total SHOCK when I realized the workout was over and I didn't max out!!! Craziness for my 1st week but definitely something I will have to push for every time during that specific workout!!


Let's Talk Food & Nutrition: 
Let's just say I SUCKED this past week when it came to my nutrition, I mostly stuck to my meal plan but definitely had more treats/cheats than I would've liked! I did keep up with my Shakeology daily (it is my life saver so I #nevermissashakeology) so that really helped me stay on the right track! Plus I got this AWESOME new cup from my coach Allison, how could I NOT drink my Shakeology out of it? 







Something was just off with me this week, I cannot pinpoint it. Maybe it was me getting bored with my food or feeling like I needed something more? Who knows....BUT I am BACK and this week I am following my meal plan to a T!! I adjusted somethings with this weeks meal plan so that I don't get bored, there is more variety and different foods!! I am sooooo ready to take this week head on and totally forget about last week! 






This week is going to be interesting with the workouts because we get to add the 10 Minute Ab Attack in 3 times during the week! My main focus this week is fueling my body each day with ALL healthy foods, drink plenty of water and {NO CHEATS} until the weekend!!! We have some fun things planned this weekend so sticking to the meal plan this week is a MUST!! It's all about your perspective and changing that so that you look at it as a positive thing.........stay tuned!!

Skinny Hibachi.....SAYYYYY WHAT????

Sooooooo last weekend my hubby and I were out grocery shopping and we had eaten a late lunch. We kind of figured we would be hungry later on that night so I just said 'I'll pick something up while we shop'. Well the hubby of course was like 'babes I'm craving Yokoso!' (a hibachi restaurant where we live). So of course once he said that I soooooo wanted some too, but it was too late at that point because we were out shopping and still had to get home and put the groceries away. I decided to pick up a few things at the store that I knew I needed to make my *SKINNY* version of hibachi!!! 




I couldn't let this AMAZING recipe go by without sharing it with you!!! So here is my healthy little cheat meal for ya! 

*Skinny Hibachi*
What you'll need: 
-1 6 oz. bag of John Soules Beef Steak Strips
-1 6 oz. bag of Tyson Grilled and Ready Chicken Strips 
-1 12 oz. bag of fully cooked, tail off shrimp (I found a bag at Walmart) 
-3 bags of Uncle Ben's Whole Grain Boil in Bag rice
-2 Tblsp of Coconut Oil or EVOO for sautéing 
-La Choy Lite Soy Sauce
-2 Large Egglands Best Organic Eggs/Or you can use egg whites
-Garlic Powder, Pepper, Sea Salt, Minced Onion for taste








What you'll do: 
-Place your 2 tablespoons of coconut oil or EVOO into your skillet to heat up, place the steak/chicken and shrimp in pan and sauté for about 20 mins. add your seasonings. 
-While your meats are sautéing, boil your rice (as per instructions on box), once it is fully cooked, add it into another skillet (or you can do the same as your meats) and add your 2 eggs (this will make your fried rice), cook this up until eggs are fully cooked. 
-Once you have done both of these steps and everything is all cooked mix all of the cooked ingredients together in a BIG bowl and serve!! 
ENJOY!! 
And just like that you have a healthier version of hibachi at home!!!! At a much lower cost too I might add!!! 


I would not say and am not claiming that this recipe is 100% clean BUT it is something that I like to make every once in awhile for a yummy/healthy weekend cheat! My husband & I LOVE this recipe and I hope your family enjoys it just as much!!! P90 Results are IN & The the Start of My Insanity Max 30 Journey Begins!!!

Sooooo OK OK OK!! I admitted I was a slacker with my weekly update posts with P90 and I SOOOO apologize for that!! BUT the results are in and I am going to be 100% honest with you on this one!!! 




P90 was a GREAT program, I actually love changing it up and this was a nice switch up for sure! BUT 90 days is ROUGH and it's alot, let's be honest!! It got a little repetitive and I feel like some days I was just going through the motions. In my opinion, this program is definitely GREAT for someone who is just starting on their journey or getting back into working out, I wouldn't recommend for someone who has done harder/more intense programs such as FocusT25 or the 21 Day Fix. With that being said, my results are in and I did exactly what I wanted to do, toned up and maintained my weight!!!

Mission Accomplished!

I can say that I am happy with my results from P90, losing more weight was not something that I wanted so this worked out perfectly for me!! I can definitely see more toning & shaping of that boooootttyyyy {which by the way was NON EXISTENT before Beachbody! ;)} and that's what I wanted!! 





Today I started my Insanity Max 30 journey and I couldn't be more excited but I must say I am gonna miss my weights/sculpting exercises from P90!!


Insanity Max 30 is NO JOKE!!! Let me just tell you that!!! Cardio, cardio and MORE cardio!! But I loved every minute of it!! Having ShaunT yelling and pushing me through when I am sooooo ready to give up is just what I needed after P90! (Tony Horton is much more laid back!) I cannot wait to see what the next 60 days brings, I know this workout program is going to push me harder than I have ever been pushed and I am excited for that and to grow through this program! 

I maxed out @ 16:52 very PROUD moment!!! 


NOW onto everyone's favorite part......the FOOD!!!! Insanity Max 30 follows the 21 Day Fix meal plan with the containers which is soooooo COOL!!! I have been following a pretty good plan of my own but wanted to step it up a notch with Insanity Max 30 to maximize my results so I sat down with the book, planned out my meals and voila! Meal plan=DoNeZo!!

It's nothing too crazy and I am totally used to eating the same thing daily because that is what works for me (everyone is different!), whatever works for you stick to it! I am not saying this meal plan is right or wrong I just know that it has worked for me! With that being said I plan to stick to this 100% throughout the week and give myself some 'cheats' in moderation on the weekends!  I will most definitely be having my 'comfort food' and healthiest meal of the day of Shakeology everyday for sure!!! Shakeology does a body good! Here is what I have come up with for my 1st week meal plan and I was shocked, I was actually FULL today and wasn't hungry or 'hangry' (angry/hungry LOL!)!!





I am so excited to go on this journey and cannot wait to share it with you!! I plan to share weekly updates (if my life isn't CRAZY!!) with you so you can go on this journey with me!!

My Super Bowl Favorite Snack Recipes!

Ok so smack me upside the head NOW....I seriously had NO CLUE the #SuperBowl was this weekend until I was looking for recipes for the blog and all these 'what are your favorite snacks for Superbowl Sunday?' recipes popped up in my google search!!! SEE what happens when my Steelers aren't in it, I don't pay any attention! Either way I am ALWAYS a TRUE #SteelerGirl!! 



Sooooo in the spirit of Super Bowl Sunday only being days away {even though my boys aren't in it!} I wanted to share my  3 favorite snacks/appetizers with you! 

First up is.....my *Skinny Buffalo Chicken Dip*

-2 cans of 95% Fat Free Canned Chicken (shredded)
-8 oz. of Greek Cream cheese
-1/2 cup of Frank's Red Hot
-1 TBLSP for WildTree's Blazin' Buffalo Seasoning
-1 cup Fat Free Ranch Dressing
- 1 1/2 cups of Fat Free Shredded Cheddar Cheese
*Mix all ingredients (only 1/2 of the cheese) in a sauce pan, bring to a boil, once finished garnish with the remaining cheese and serve with yummy BLUE Tortilla Chips!*





2nd in my top 3 is.....*Mini Tacos*

-Won ton wrappers in muffin tins filled with taco seasoned turkey meat, fat free cheddar cheese & bake for 8 minutes at 350. Top with favorite taco toppings! ..yum!



AND 3rd on the list is......*Zucchini Pizza Boats* OHHHH YES, they are deliciously healthy!

Shakeology = Better than Friday!

Did you know that your diet/nutrition is 80% of your success?!? Crazy huh?! Not really ---> working out is great but if you are not incorporating a healthy balanced diet you are wasting you're time!!! Say this with me: You can not out work a poor diet!' 

But this stuff right here, {Reese Peanut Butter Cup in my cup} to me, it's better than Friday!!! {Yes I just said that!!} 



 {Reese Peanut Butter Shakeology}
- 1 packet/serving of Vegan Chocolate Shakeology
- 1/2 cup Almond Milk

- 1 bottle (16.9oz) of water
- 1 tsp of PB2 powder
- 12 pieces of ice 
* Blend and ENJOY!!*

Shakeology is literally my 1 stop shop with over 70 superfoods/nutrients/antioxidants and 9 servings of fruits & veggies in one serving AND it's all natural!!!! You cannot go wrong here!!!

I'd take #Shakeology over fast food anyday! This is my fast food!

P90 Week #6 Update: Thoughts & Progress {and a little bit of meal prep!}


OK so I finished Week #6!!! I cannot believe that I am already on week #6 of P90!!! Crazy how time flies when you are having fun! 

I want to address something really quickly because I have been hearing this ALOT lately.....'she is so lucky to have that body', 'you are so lucky to have all that energy', 'he is so lucky to have those muscles'......and I could go on and on and on!!! Let me just say this >>>>>>> The things that happen in your life don't happen by the 'magic' of LUCK or lack there of, they happen because of the work you are putting in to make them happen! We make our own luck! That girl didn't get that body, I didn't get my energy and that guy didn't get his muscles by pure luck.....we worked our A** of for it!! Ask yourself right now today, are you putting in the work (no matter what the end goal is) to reach your goals and get results? 

Month #2 of P90 is still kicking my butt and I LOVE it!!! My body changes daily and I worked up enough guts this week to share a little progress pic with ya >>>>

(I am finally HAPPY with the way my stomach looks!!)

This progress pic has been a long time coming, 7 months to be exact! I have been working my butt off and I can finally say that I am happy with the way my stomach looks! Has it been easy??? HELL NO!!! Has it been worth it??? YES, very worth it!!! 

I finally kicked myself outta whatever little *funk* I was in the past few weeks and really kicked butt this week with my workouts and my eating, but then the dreaded FLU BUG hit our house, thankfully it only lasted about 2 days {thanks to Shakeology!} and I didn't have to miss a workout!!! 



AND THEN the AMAZING InsanityMax30 was delivered on my doorstep this week!!! I was so excited that in honor of the new program and receiving it we totally had to try it out!!! INSANE it sure is but I loved it and there is a modifier too, so when you reach your max out point you can totally follow her lead or take the break you need! This program WANTS you to MAX OUT the point is to push you further than you EVER thought you'd go! 
My momma always taught me to finish what I start so I WILL be finishing P90 and when I am finished >>>>> I am coming for you ShaunT!!! 

Sooooo excited!!!



Ohhhhh we definitely #MAXEDOUT!!



All in all I had a really GREAT week and it starts with me setting myself up for SUCCESS, not failure, by planning & prepping my husband and I's meals for the week!!! It's so easy to get off track if you don't have a meal at your fingertips to grab, you'll end up grabbing some sort of fast food and regret it later! So as promised, here is a little glimpse into my Sunday meal prepping!!!












One thing that I have NEVER claimed is that we eat a 100% clean diet! We eat a semi-clean diet and that's what works for us! I am EXTREMELY picky when it comes to chicken and it MUST have some sort of breading on it for me to eat it.....these Perdue Gluten Free, Natural Chicken Tenders (can be found at Giant Eagle or Walmart) were a GREAT find for me!!! They are so yummy and good for me! Now for my hubby I found these trusty little John Soules Food All Natural, Gluten Free Chicken Fajitas strips (can be found at Sam's Club),  and I also add a baked potato into his meals each day, he's not too picky about food so he will eat whatever I make for him!  Sooooooo then I buy a BIG bag of broccoli (can be found at Sam's Club), cook it up and put a 1 cup serving in each of our meals! I make enough lunches and dinners for the both of us for 5 days! That gets us through the work week and keeps us on track since we drink Shakeology daily for breakfast! This may not be the RIGHT way to do it but it is what works for us, I am not spending tons and tons of hours cooking each week, we stay on track and we are losing & maintaing our weight all while eating healthy! Lastly did you know that 2 out of 3 adults are overweight? WOW that's a scary statistic to me!!
